  1. Pre heat the oven to 180 c.
  2. In a big bowl, sieve flour, baking powder and soda.
  3. In an another bowl beat butter and sugar till fluffy.
  4. Add flour , milk  and orange juice or essence.
  5. Now with a little dry flour in a bowl , mix the candied orange leaving a few to decorate.
  6. This will prevent the oranges from settling at the bottom of the cake.
  7. Grease a loaf tin with some oil or butter.
  8. Pour the cake batter and with a palette even the top.
  9. Sprinkle the reserved candied oranges randomly.
  10. Bake for about 30 mins till fully cooked. When a knife inserted in the middle of the cake should come out clean.
  11. Allow the cake to cool and remove it from the tin.
  12. Do not be tempted to slice the cake immediately. Refrigerate for about 3o mins.
  13. Now its ready to be sliced.
